Xanadu Quantum.
Quantum in Canada.
A complex technology. A clear case for backing the people behind it. Viva Media developed and produced Quantum in Canada, an interview-led documentary built to introduce prospective investors to Xanadu’s team, technology and Canadian roots.

Give investors a reason to keep watching.
Xanadu develops photonic quantum computing technology in Toronto. For this film, the brief came down to three questions: why Canada, why Xanadu and why now? The audience needed to understand the opportunity and meet the people pursuing it, without sitting through a technical presentation.
We developed a documentary approach around conversations with Xanadu’s team and external investors. Their perspectives connected the technology to the company’s ambitions. Footage of the lab and Toronto showed where the team works and the city it calls home.

Let the people make the case.
We researched contributors and prepared questions around their expertise. The interviews were conversations rather than a shared script. In the edit, we brought those different perspectives into one film, connecting the work happening inside Xanadu with the reasons others had chosen to back it.
Keep the interview setup in the picture.
Wide shots reveal the backdrop and lighting inside Xanadu’s workplace. Paired with closer interview shots, they let viewers see both the speaker and the setting behind the conversation.
Give remote interviews a deliberate look.
Remote contributors appear inside a retro computer interface. That treatment gives the video-call footage a distinct place in the film while keeping the person speaking easy to follow.

Put the technology in context.
Our crew filmed interviews, lab activity and the working environment at Xanadu. We combined new footage of Toronto with material from earlier projects. The edit moves between people, equipment and the city, keeping the Canadian setting connected to the work being discussed.
Client feedback helped refine interview pacing, titles and the closing sequence. The finished film runs 3 minutes and 59 seconds.
