10 Awesome Examples of Company Culture Videos That Get it Right

In 2018, 85% of internet users in the United States watched video content. Video marketing is an excellent way to reach more people when growing your business.

Reading is not only informed by what’s going on with us at that moment, but also governed by how our eyes and brains work to process information. What you see and what you’re experiencing as you read these words is quite different.

ideo production is the process of planning, filming, and finalizing a video. Producing videos is a great way to tell stories or implement a new marketing strategy. If you understand the basics of video production, you will know that it can take a while to create a video. However, when done well, a video can be an amazing piece of content. Whether you want to tell a story or market your next product, you should consider the stages of video production. Of course, no two videos will take the same length of time to produce. Some may move through the steps quickly, while others may take longer. One video might get stuck in one stage, while a different video will get stuck in a different part of the process. Still, you should know the different video production stages so that you can plan for them when creating a video.

Almost every video goes through the same basic steps, from coming up with an idea to premiering the video. It doesn’t matter if you’re making a short marketing clip or a full-length movie.

You need to take your video through the following stages:

  • Pre-production
  • Production
  • Post-production

While you might be able to breeze through these steps, take them seriously. You want to put out the best video that you can, and that can take time. Of course, you might be able to create a marketing video within a week or two. However, a longer movie could take months to complete. Before you begin making your first video, you should know what each stage entails. Then, you can account for the different stages when planning and scheduling everything.

One essential part of pre-production is finalizing the script. You don’t want to start shooting if you don’t know what you’re going to talk about. You should also list out all of the shots you want to get and what order they will go in. Creating a storyboard will help you visualize what your video will look like. Next, you should consider your budget. A music video will probably have a bigger budget than a customer testimonial. However, you need to know how much money you can spend for the rest of this stage. If you’ll have other people in the video, you should look for your cast. Of course, you can’t film your video if you don’t have all of the necessary people. Because of this, you should also look for any crew members, especially if you have a longer video to shoot. At this point, you’ll need to make sure you have all of the necessary equipment. You’ll need cameras, lights, sound equipment and a filming location. Depending on your video, you may need someone to manage hair and makeup. Make sure you have everything ironed out before you move onto the next stage

The production stage is probably the most exciting part of the process. You’ve done all of the planning, you have a great idea and you have a cast and crew to help.

Now, you need to film all of the shots and scenes for your video. Depending on how long the video will be, this could take a few hours. On the other hand, it could take weeks to get all of the footage that you need.

During this stage, don’t be afraid to get multiple takes of the same scene. While you might like the first take, you want to have options so that you can include the best footage.

Even if you’re making a short video for a marketing campaign, you want to get every possible shot now. If you realize later that you forgot something, it can be a pain to set up all of the equipment and film it again.

Make sure that you use the best equipment that you can. Set up lighting so that it looks good on the people in your video.

Use external microphones to capture voices more easily.

The more you do now to improve the quality of the video, the easier it will be in the final stage of video production.

Post-Production

Possibly the hardest step in video production is the post-production stage. It is where you take all of the footage you have and combine it into a high-quality video.

If you’ve never worked with video, this step can be intimidating. Luckily, a video production company can help you out.

You can edit the video by splicing the footage like you would with film. Then, you can cut out awkward pauses so that you only keep the footage that you want.

You’ll also need to make sure that the audio syncs up with the video. If you haven’t already, you should also get the rights to any music that you want to use.

Adding music can add more depth and interest to the video, which can make people want to watch it and share it.

If you have other sounds besides music, you may need to do foley. Foley involves creating sounds for a video but those sounds may not be music. One example would be using wood blocks to replicate the sound of horse hooves.

After you add everything in, you can review the video. Once you’re happy with the product, you can release it to the public.

QUestions For Your New Video Production Company
Want to learn more about company culture videos? If you’re looking to hire remarkable talent, your culture video is where it’s at. Below, we’ve collected ten awesome examples that’ll show you how to do it right. Read on to learn more.
6 Things You Should Expect When Hiring A Video Production Company
There is no sincerer love than the love of food.

What Makes a Stellar Company Culture Video?

The best culture videos share a few commonalities. We list them below in no particular order. They’re share-worthy: The videos contain elements that make them worth sharing on social media. Unique insights and emotional responses are what you’re looking for. They’re humorous: videos that sell job seekers on a particular company often make them laugh. Why? Because people want to work in a place that’s fun and lighthearted. They’re YouTube-worthy: YouTube is the number two online search engine. It’s the largest source of online digital videos. The more popular your video is on YouTube, the more potential candidates will see it. They showcase real employees: People have a way of picking up on actors or impersonators. If your goal is to give viewers a sense of the genuine culture of your company, you’ve got to use people who really work there. They dive deep: If you want to create a lasting impression on potential candidates, then show don’t tell. In other words, don’t tell viewers, “Hey, we have a phenomenal company culture.” You can do that in 4 seconds flat. Instead, show them how and why you have a phenomenal company culture. Record employees cracking up in the lunch room. Film a 30-second segment on employees performing Tai Chi on the front lawn before work. Tape whatever makes your company stand out. They’re Authentic: They’re genuine people doing genuine things. Yes, the scene can still be scripted, but it’s got to mirror the ethos of the company. Note: unless you have a master’s in film studies or creative marketing, consider hiring professional video production services. The return on your investment will become apparent when talented job candidates start calling for interviews.

1. Zappos

Remember what we said before about real employees? Well, the Zappos Family is definitely real. They’re weird. They’re talented. They’re weirdly talented. In the Zappos Family Music Video, you’ll hear real employees sing. You’ll also watch them get down to their own beats. Oh, and they have their own Muppets. Who wouldn’t want their own Muppet doppelganger?

2. Dropbox

Speaking of Muppets, Dropbox created a huge hit with their Working at Dropbox company culture vid. The use of a Muppet prop tells viewers that they know how to have fun and not take themselves too seriously. The same is true for the genuine, fun, and in some places satirical dialogue. The video is also expertly done. The videography work is sublime. The Muppets look like something you’d see on NBC or CBS. It took hundreds of man-hours to produce something this professional, authentic, and funny. You also get a chance to see the Dropbox campus. It’s another way to show prospects just what they’ll be getting if they choose your company over the competition.

3. MathWorks

The video Working at MathWorks takes a different approach than those above. Rather than blasting you with humor, they focus on what makes their company unique. In particular, their employees speak about problems you might find at other engineering firms:
  • Worthwhile products
  • Work on their own private projects
  • Respect
  • Collaboration
  • Etc.
The company clearly performed a ton of market research to uncover prospects’ gripes about their previous jobs. They used that information to sell the solution: working for MathWorks.

4. Shopify

Another option is to create not one company culture video, but a variety. In the Draw the Owl video, Shopify shows off its ability to use levity. They also demonstrate their company’s ability to make mistakes and turn those mistakes into innovations. In short, the video is fun, shareworthy, and surprising.

5. Twilio

Ok, so if you don’t know, Twilio is known as one of the hottest tech IPOs out there. Their goal is to attract developers, and it comes through in their videos. You can see it in everything from their employee value propositions to their use of HTML. Here’s their Working at Twilio video.

6. Fiverr

You may have noticed that many of these videos are made by tech companies. If you’re wondering why, it’s because they have the money to hire phenomenal branding, marketing, and media production companies. Fiverr delivers a spectacular spoof called Another Generic Recruitment Video. Fortunately, the video is anything but generic. It shows their sense of humor. It’s hilarious and readily shareable on social media.

7. GE

This video gives a stodgy, blandly branded company a sense of humor. In What’s the Matter with Owen, the contrast useless jobs that are glitter with jobs with GE that are full of substance. They recognized that they need to change things up for their next generation of employees, the millennials.

8. Dallas Fort Worth Police Department

Unless you’re watching Reno 911, it’s unusual to see police departments portrayed as funny. Well, FWPD Stormtrooper Police ‘Recruit’ has just changed all that. They definitely put a new spin on what it means to be a police recruit. They also managed to show the skill and expertise of their employees, who manage to obliterate a target on the gun range.

9. Twitter

Once again, we’re looking at another tech company from the Bay Area. This time they manage to incorporate humor into a company overview video. If you don’t have a background in film, it’s easier said than done. And twitter nails it. They also highlight their entrepreneurial culture and spotlight the positions they’re hiring for. Here’s their video: At Twitter, The Future is You!

10. CloudLock

This one is made for men who love classic kung fu movies. Do you have “The Chops” complete with a historic Chinese kung fu fight scene and voiceover? They also outline their employee value proposition and culture.
